in the beginning... there was Facebook
The free Simple Ayurveda Facebook Community group started from a deep well of excitement and enthusiasm to cultivate a community with a shared interest in applying Ayurveda to everyday life.
Love was poured into a group purpose and mission statement. As written in the welcome...
The purpose of this group is to support you in:
- Taking a modern approach to Ayurveda.
- Seeing yourself holistically rather than the sum of separate parts.
- Giving up any fear or imperfection and embracing who you are in this moment. You are whole!
The mission + intention for this space:
- The mission and intention of this community is to connect you with other like-minded individuals that are walking this same path of seeking physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance through the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda and its sister sciences.
For a while, I felt like the group served these intended purpose. But slowly, over time the landscape of Facebook started to shift. Flashing lights, pop-up videos, and so many new bells and whistles grabbing for attention. Most of us would agree that Facebook is pretty much the opposite of simplicity in every way.
sattvic + sustainable
As I work toward a more embodied, sustainable lifestyle and business I have to consider what is actually sattvic. My understanding of teaching, community and the attention economy has grown and evolved.
Urgency is a symptom of a patriarchal colonized culture and I no longer want to participate nor model it for others.
When I turn to my core values of embodiment, creativity, spaciousness, intuition, intention and sustainability I realize that Facebook is not the place for a continuing conversation in alignment with these priorities. I would like better for you and for the sacredness of Ayurveda.
space for a slow and intentional community
If you have been a member of The Simple Ayurveda free Facebook Community, thank you for your energy, connection and being part of this ebb and flow. I value you and genuinely wish the best for you. I invite you to do this investigative core values work alongside me, even if your outcome looks totally different from mine.
If you would like to participate in an intentional, supportive community off social media, please consider the Simple Ayurveda Collective. The pace is slow. There are no bells and whistles. The members are genuinely loving toward one another and there is a shared language based on a common foundation and understanding of Ayurveda as provided in the lessons and self-inquiry.
There is a small cost involved. Because ultimately there is an energetic exchange happening in some way or another when something of value is consistently provided. In the Facebook group, that cost went above and beyond any exchange among members as we all are giving our attention to the social media machine.
In conclusion, I am closing a thriving Facebook community because it no longer models the Ayurveda that I want to share. I believe I can offer meaningful, sattvic teachings by facilitating conversation in a more autonomous space.

member love
"I love this group and how supportive it is! I’ve been a member for three months and I’ve already learned so much from cooking, yoga, everyday ways to incorporate Ayurveda, and so much more! Plus you don’t have the intrusive nature of social media. It truly has been an amazing experience that I highly recommend!"
"I am learning that it’s okay to take my time with learning. Life is not a race."
"The private group has been a big source and support for me in the deeper learning that I craved too, ultimately guiding me to make the changes I wanted in my life as well!! Yin yoga practices that connect with the seasons and topics of learning, simple recipes, and lessons that are full and easy to digest and put into practise are what I love about Simple Ayurveda! I’m so grateful a friend suggested I join because the support and information is an extra extension of the Simple Ayurveda Podcast and Book Club, well worth the monthly fee to explore and connect deeper with the topics."
"I feel less alone in this way of life and supported in taking the time to further my self care."
"After trying to learn and follow the lifestyle principles of Ayurveda for a couple of years, I have a much deeper understanding and have had many 'aha' moments since finding your podcast, then joining the Collective. I am incredibly grateful for Angela and all that she offers. I really got a lot from the Foundations section - and the Agni module.....and I have made great improvements in my digestion."
"I am never disappointed when I log in and see what the new month’s topic is!"
"I bought an Ayurveda book a decade ago and a bunch of spices for my guess at my constitution but didn’t “succeed” in eating Ayurvedically, or even really understanding the framework. It was too overwhelming. Now I feel like I’m on a sustainable path and I’m feeling much better in body and mind."
